Auckland is home to some of our most spectacular scenery and most endangered wildlife.

Forest & Bird has nine branches in the Auckland region that work on 30 projects from forest restoration to fairy tern research.

Our Auckland branches are working together on Auckland Naturally, a project linking these projects and the main “reservoirs” of bird habitat – the Waitakere and Hunua Ranges and Hauraki Gulf islands.

Last year, we planted over 6500 trees with major restoration occuring around Tuff Crater and Mangemangeroa Reserve.

More recently, we have been busy returning long lost birds back into the Waitakere ranges. Our 100 strong team of pest-busting volunteers has created a safe haven for endangered birds, called Ark in the Park. In the past three years, we have introduced hihi, whitehead, robin and kokako into this 2000- hectare parkland.

As well as taking part in our projects, members are welcome to unwind at some of our local lodges in Piha and Waiheke Island
